Alex is a co-founder and partner at Rainmaking Innovation, the human API between startups and corporates, where he works with global companies in Europe, Asia and Latam to accelerate their innovation. He was also the initial spark behind Startupbootcamp, the global accelerator with 20 programs on four continents, which he launched in Copenhagen in 2010. Following a stint with a startup in San Francisco Alex held a number of engineering and executive positions at DHL and Deutsche Post with postings in Europe and Hong Kong. Alex is a French citizen, was born in Spain, grew up Africa, went to boarding school in England and an American high school in Africa and now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is married to a Dane with whom he created two red-headed Trolls.

Anabel is CEO and Co-Founder of NovoPayment, a leading fintech company that enables financial services and digital payments innovation throughout the Americas through a cloud-based, open platform that supports varied mass disbursement, collection and mobile transactions. NovoPayment helps banks, financial institutions, e-money issuers as well as the travel and transportation industry, and others to leverage their existing legacy systems and services to generate new transaction streams and capture new deposits while reducing operational risk and accelerating time to market. Mrs. Pérez has more than 25 years of experience in banking and payments including commercial and retail banking, product development and financial services. Prior to NovoPayment, she served as Senior Vice President of Venezolano de Crédito, a leading Venezuelan financial institution, where she held several key positions. Under Mrs. Perez’ leadership NovoPayment and its subsidiaries have garnered several important awards and recognitions including seven Paybefore Awards (2008-2017) and Latin Trade Magazine’s 10 Companies Under 10 Years (2010). Mrs. Pérez has been honored with several professional awards and recognitions including Endeavor Entrepreneur (2014) and the 2011 Paybefore Industry Achievement Award, the prepaid industry's highest individual honor in recognition of her contributions to the space and to financial inclusion in Latin America.

Benjamin is a Founder of GuiaBolso, a fintech startup that developed Brazil's leading personal finance platform, with over 3.5M users and the #1 finance app in the AppStore. In line with its mission of transforming the financial well-being of Brazilian consumers, GuiaBolso developed unique technology to aggregate and organize all of users' financial information to help them make better decisions and choose more appropriate products. A key piece of this strategy has been the scaling up of an credit marketplace to match consumers with directed offers from banking partners online and in real-time. Dan is the founder and CEO of Tienda Pago. Tienda Pago provides short term financing to stores in the traditional channel to finance the inventory of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs). The line of credit is integrated with a mobile wallet resulting in cashless collection for FMCG distributors. Since 2014 TP operates in Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. Previously Dan was part of the funding management team of Celistics, as well as the CEO of Movilway, the largest Agent network of prepaid airtime in LATAM with operations in 14 countries. Dan worked for 12 years in New York in financial services as a strategic management consultant in various fortune 500 firms. Dan started his career as a FX trader in Citibank in Venezuela. Fermín Ezquer Matallana

Fermin Ezquer-Matallana is a Managing Partner with Think Creative, a multidisciplinary business accelerator that develops innovative product, service, and brand extensions to sustainably increase top-line growth. Additionally, he serves as Chief Strategist for Imagemme, a branding and packaging design agency and sister-company to Think Creative. Specialized in business model innovation, Fermin has led client engagements across industries throughout the US, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. These projects include: creating a business model for millennials at BBVA; working with Robin Hood Foundation to help nonprofits in NYC develop sustainable business models; facilitating the idea-to-business model transformation process at Petronas Malaysia; and many more. Fermin is presently a mentor with Startup Bootcamp Fintech in New York City; a member of the Advisory Board of the Mexican Government’s Observatorio Nacional del Emprendedor; and sits on the Board of Directors for two startups (ThinkWoW and CrowdBureau). Fermin is also advisor to the Chief Innovation Officer at Grupo Gentera, the leader in financial services to the base of the pyramid in Latin America with a mission to eradicate financial exclusion. Jim McCarthy

EVP of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Visa

Jim McCarthy is the Executive Vice President of Innovation & Strategic Partnerships for Visa Inc. In this position, Jim is responsible for the development of Visa’s innovation efforts, business development for strategic partnerships and overseeing Visa’s open platform program, Visa Developer. Most recently, Jim was the Global Head of Product for Visa Inc., with responsibility for all aspects of product strategy and development in consumer and business products, as well as platform development and commercial information management. Since joining Visa in 1999, McCarthy has held several senior leadership positions, including Head of North America Financial Institution Sales and Head of Global Consumer Products. Earlier in his Visa tenure, McCarthy was Head of Emerging Products for Visa USA, where he drove the coordination, deployment and management of emerging products and payment services in the United States, including the development of Verified by Visa, an identity verification product that has become the standard for payment security and fraud prevention in eCommerce. Prior to joining Visa in 1999, McCarthy worked at IBM where he served as the senior client representative to Bank of America. In that role, he was responsible for direct sales and account management including marketing, technology solutions and the development of joint business strategies. McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary in 1986.

Johanna Posada

Johanna Posada is Managing Director and co-founder of Elevar Equity, a private venture capital fund management firm that invests in emerging countries. Elevar focuses on investing in and supporting entrepreneurs that offer products and services to clients with limited or no access to global systems. Currently, Elevar manages three funds and, with over USD165 million under management (AUM), has invested in 29 companies in emerging countries (India, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Brazil), and in sectors such as funding for micro and SMEs, Fintech businesses, payments/corresponsal banking, education financing, low resource housing and health services. Johanna has over 17 years of experience working for the corporate finance and investment sector in emerging markets. After graduating from the ITAM (Mexico DF) in Economics, she began her career as economist in the Central Bank in Mexico, where she focused on the elaboration of institutional frames to increase efficiency and inclusion in the Mexican financial sector. Ruben Salazar

Ruben Salazar is the Senior Vice President of Products for Visa Latin America and the Caribbean region. In this role he is responsible for product development in the region and heading the products team with the objective of supporting banks, technology partners and consumers in the region. He also leads the development of new business and implementation of digital products for Visa Latin America. Prior to this, he was the Head of Product Design & Development at Visa in Asia Pacific. Susan Amat

Founder and CEO, Venture Hive

Dr. Susan Amat is the CEO and founder of Venture Hive, an entrepreneur education company that provides accountability and transparency software and content to support innovation management and entrepreneurship programs for Fortune 20 companies and governments internationally. A serial entrepreneur, she built businesses in the entertainment industry for over a decade, including the first CD-Rom magazine and a national television show. After completing her MBA, Dr. Amat developed pediatric health monitoring products and earned a Ph.D. in Strategic Entrepreneurship (coursework in industrial engineering, business, and education). While teaching at the University of Miami, she founded The Launch Pad, which was considered the top model in entrepreneurship education. Thomas (Tigre) Wenrich

Tigre recently joined The LAB Miami as CEO and is launching LAB.Ventures, a “venture builder” that aims to create game-changing new businesses in partnership with the region’s best entrepreneurial talent and leading corporations. Tigre is also an active angel investor and a mentor to several local emerging technology companies, having invested in more than two dozen startups. He serves on the board of Accelerated Growth Partners (AGP), Miami’s leading angel investor network. In 2009 Tigre joined Andres Moreno as the Founding COO and CFO of Open English, growing the company from commercial launch to over $50M in annual revenues and creating a massive consumer brand. Today Open English is the leading on-line language school in the Americas, having helped nearly 500,000 students to learn English over the internet. Under Tigre’s leadership, Open English raised over $120M of Venture Capital in four rounds of investment from firms including Redpoint, Insight, and Technology Crossover Ventures. Tigre began his career as a strategy consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, where he spent 16 years as a partner in the US, Spain and Mexico. Later, from 2006 to 2009, he built a chain of 20 checkcashing and PayDay Loan stores in Miami, which he purchased in an MBO and subsequently sold to a larger competitor. He was also a founding investor and Board member of Proteak, a large Latin American forestry business which listed on the Mexican stock exchange in 2010. Tigre holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and is fluent in Spanish and English.

Vitor is Co-founder of Kyvo Design-driven Innovation and partner of GSVlabs in Brazil. He coordinates the Track, a Visa acceleration program in Brazil, and is a consultant to EDP’s innovation program, EDP Starter. In recent years, in addition to the work developed for some of the largest multinationals in Brazil, he analyzed the business models of more than 400 startups. Vitor has more than 10 year of expertise in human centered design, focusing on create business and services that are desirable to people, viable to business and technologically feasible.
