Visa’s Everywhere Initiative comes to Bogota on August 21st to celebrate one of its six semifinals in the region. During the event, we will meet the 6 emerging Fintech semifinalists from Colombia and nearby countries, who will pitch their businesses in front of a panel of judges and compete to be selected as finalists. The two selected finalists will participate in a 4-day immersion program and will pitch their projects at the final of Visa’s Everywhere Initiative, which will take place at FINNOSUMMIT in Miami on October 4-5, 2018. The most innovative Fintech startup in Latin America will be selected at the final, winning a US$50,000 award, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with Visa on the future of payments, gain exposure to venture capitalists and Visa’s ecosystem of partners. Moreover, a special recognition will be given to the best startup with the highest potential to have an impact on financial inclusion in the region.
Furthermore, during the semifinal in Bogota, we will hear from a distinguished Fintech thought-leader, Wenyi Cai (Founder & Managing Partner, Polymath Ventures), who will offer a keynote to the 150 attendees during an evening filled with innovation and financial disruption.
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative Semifinal will end off with a networking cocktail, which is designed for the local community of Fintech innovators to network and socialize amongst each other.

Wenyi Cai | Founder & Managing Partner, Polymath Ventures
Wenyi Cai is the Founder & Managing Partner of Polymath Ventures, an emerging-market-focused company builder with offices in Bogota, Mexico City, and Shanghai. Polymath has built 7 companies in a range of industries, including mobility and financial services, and raised over $20M USD in early-stage funding. Polymath is a strategic partner of Mesoamerica, a leader in private equity in Latin America, with a dedicated $40M USD fund to invest in Polymath’s portfolio. Prior to founding Polymath, Wenyi was the COO of Milo.com, a consumer internet startup that sold to eBay in 2010. Earlier in her career, Wenyi was a consultant with McKinsey & Company in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, and a qualitative trader in the hedge fund industry. Wenyi graduated cum laude from Harvard College and studied philosophy and physics.

- Fintech Latam: Fintech B2B company focused on developing and managing neobanking platforms for financial institutions.
- Houspoon: Colombian Digital Commerce web app that empowers people to turn their home kitchens into social restaurants where people can connect and the host can make some money out of it.
- Minka: Colombian bank in the cloud that allows organizations to create low-cost and secure financial services through open APIs.
- The Pagadito Group: Payment gateway/aggregator from El Salvador servicing merchants ranging from individual freelancers to governments with a broad product range.
- Tranqui: Colombian PFM platform to help users get quality answers and guidance so they can improve their financial lives
- xChange: Payments platform from Ecuador for online transactions made in the backside by Blockchain, where anyone can send and receive money from any part of Latin America
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative LAC 2018
The 2018 edition of the global innovation program will bring together early-stage startups across Latin America and the Caribbean to explore solutions to solve the commerce challenges of tomorrow. Visa’s Everywhere Initiative is looking for Fintech startups, as well as other tech-driven startups in verticals or segments such as IoT, Mobile, Big Data, eCommerce, Fraud and Digital Identity, across Latin America and the Caribbean to engage in one of the most dynamic and collaborative innovation programs worldwide.
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative will travel across Latin America looking for the 12 most innovative Fintech startups capable of meeting the needs of the local market. Startups will participate in the semifinals, which will be held in Mexico City, Bogota, Lima, Santiago, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. Each semi-final will have 6 participating Fintech startups, and the 2 best startups from each semifinal will participate in a 4-day immersion program and will pitch their projects in the final, which will take place at FINNOSUMMIT in Miami on October 4th and 5th, 2018. The most innovative Fintech startup in Latin America will be selected at the final, winning a US$50,000 award, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with Visa on the future of payments, gain exposure to venture capitalists and Visa’s ecosystem of partners.
