Visa’s Everywhere Initiative comes to Mexico City on August 23rd to celebrate one of its six semifinals in the region. During the event, we will meet the 6 emerging Fintech semifinalists from Mexico and nearby countries, who will pitch their businesses in front of a panel of judges and compete to be selected as finalists. The two selected finalists will participate in a 4-day immersion program and will pitch their projects at the final of Visa’s Everywhere Initiative, which will take place at FINNOSUMMIT in Miami on October 4-5, 2018. The most innovative Fintech startup in Latin America will be selected at the final, winning a US$50,000 award, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with Visa on the future of payments, gain exposure to venture capitalists and Visa’s ecosystem of partners. Moreover, a special recognition will be given to the best startup with the highest potential to have an impact on financial inclusion in the region.
Furthermore, during the semifinal in Mexico City, we will hear Christine Kenna (Partner, IGNIA Venture Capital Fund) a distinguished Fintech thought-leader who will offer a keynote to the 150 attendees during an evening filled with innovation and financial disruption.
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative Semifinal will end off with a networking cocktail, which is designed for the local community of Fintech innovators to network and socialize amongst each other.

Christine Kenna | Partner, IGNIA Venture Capital Fund
Christine has a demonstrated record in accelerating innovative enterprises and supporting courageous entrepreneurs that have a profound impact in Latin America. As a Partner at IGNIA, Mexico’s largest venture capital firm, Christine invests in companies that are reinventing the way to do business with the emerging middle class in Latin America in high impact sectors such as financial services, employment, e-commerce, and marketplaces. Previously Christine led the marketing and sales operations of EF Education First, the world´s largest private international education company, where she was a key figure in managing the company´s turnaround in Mexico. She also worked with Google on international growth strategies in California and France, The Guggenheim Foundation in Mexico, and The Parthenon Group in Boston. Christine was recognized as one of the top female investors in Latin American by the Latin American Venture Capital Association and as one of the 30 people to most impact Mexico’s development by Expansion magazine in 2016. As a passionate advocate for developing high-potential professional women and networks, Christine co-founded Women in Private Equity and Venture Capital in Mexico, and MBA Mujeres de México. Christine graduated from Duke University with a BA in Economics and International Relations and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

- Destacame: Destacame is a free digital financial management platform from Chile that empowers individuals by giving them control over their financial data.
- Dapp: Mexican payments Fintech allowing merchants to charge in a simple and safe way with no additional devices (POS, mPOS).
- Expediente Azul: Mexican EFM that simplifies the submission process of documentation needed for financial operations.
- Pagamobil: Mexican startup developing mobile payments solutions so that users can pay all relevant services through a Standalone App (B2C direct) and API’s.
- Swapme: Mexican Mobile Wallet enabling P2P payments to any contact or bank account in Mexico, and payments to merchants.
- Visor: Mexican marketplace that enables frictionless origination, dynamic analysis and intelligent customer management of SMEs in Mexico and Brazil
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative LAC 2018
The 2018 edition of the global innovation program will bring together early-stage startups across Latin America and the Caribbean to explore solutions to solve the commerce challenges of tomorrow. Visa’s Everywhere Initiative is looking for Fintech startups, as well as other tech-driven startups in verticals or segments such as IoT, Mobile, Big Data, eCommerce, Fraud and Digital Identity, across Latin America and the Caribbean to engage in one of the most dynamic and collaborative innovation programs worldwide.
Visa’s Everywhere Initiative will travel across Latin America looking for the 12 most innovative Fintech startups capable of meeting the needs of the local market. Startups will participate in the semifinals, which will be held in Mexico City, Bogota, Lima, Santiago, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. Each semi-final will have 6 participating Fintech startups, and the 2 best startups from each semifinal will participate in a 4-day immersion program and will pitch their projects in the final, which will take place at FINNOSUMMIT in Miami on October 4th and 5th, 2018. The most innovative Fintech startup in Latin America will be selected at the final, winning a US$50,000 award, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with Visa on the future of payments, gain exposure to venture capitalists and Visa’s ecosystem of partners.
