Adrian Garcia-Aranyos

MD, Endeavor Spain

Adrian Garcia-Aranyos is the Managing Director of Endeavor Spain, a non-for-profit focused on high-impact entrepreneurship. He is also an investor in several start-ups, such as: BankFacil, and The Digital Marvels, in addition he is the co-founder of intoSpain and founding partner of InTrustGlobal. Prior to that he held various leading positions at JP Morgan Chase & Co, The Economist Group, The Spain-US Chamber of Commerce and CM Capital Markets. In 2013 Poder magazine named him one of the "40 under 40 influential Latinos in the US"; in 2010 the Inter American Development Bank awarded his INDI Fund (by InTrustGlobal) the BeyondBanking Award for most socially responsible investment. Since 2003, Mr. Garcia-Aranyos has served as board member at Tune Eureka, an industrial engineering firm specializing in capital goods and focused on deep-sea oil drilling components, paper industry parts and defense mechanisms. He obtained his BA in Political Science from Universidad Complutense (2000); Banking and Finance Certificate from IEB (2001); Marketing Certificate from Kellogg (2010), and an SEP from IESE (2014).


Agustín Cuenca

Agustin is founder of different Internet companies. He was CEO and Founder of Qarana, IT service company specialized in Internet banking solutions that got to be valued in 150 million USD and achieved to have 400 employees. He also founded Play Wireless, which today is integrated in the group Zed; and other network projects such as BeRuby. Agustin has also invested in different educational projects around the world such as Niuco.es and Wimba.co. He is currently founder & CEO of ASPgems, a company specialized in the development of agile solutions and manufacturer of SaaS products like NeuroK, online training platform focused on the principles of neuro-education. He collaborates as professor in several online entrepreneurship courses, like Option Entrepreneuriat of ESCP, Startup Academy, IMBS and Startup Weekend. Alan Colmenares

Alan Colmenares has worked in Silicon Valley and Latin America for some of the most pioneering technological companies, such as Intel Capital, SCO and SAS institute. Currently he is Executive of Digital Transformation for new markets in Microsoft. Recently, as Executive for BBVA, he was part of the team that successfully completed de acquisition of a digital payments startup in Mexico called Openpay. He has been mentor of Endeavor for six years, as well as investor, advisor and shareholder of several startups, such as Tappsi and 1Doc3 among others. Alejandro Cosentino

Alejandro leads Afluenta by combining his wide experience in financial services, Internet business and technology. He previously was Marketing Manager of American Express in Latin America and participated in the transformation of Banco Río. Alexandre Lazarow

Álvaro Martín

Alvaro Martín is Partner and Director of Afi’s International Department. His background as a telecommunications engineer has clearly influenced his professional focus on the analysis of ICT and innovation, particularly in the financial sector. His areas of expertise include electronic payments and financial inclusion in Spain and Latin America. Throughout his career, he has engaged in a variety of consultancy projects for banks, non-financial firms, private foundations, public administrations and multilateral organizations (such as the IDB, the World Bank and the European Commission). Alvaro also devotes some of his time to non-profit Fundación Afi, both as a member of its board and directly participating in some of its projects on financial inclusion.


Amanda Jacobson

Manager of Latin America, Village Capital

Amanda leads Village Capital's partnerships and operations in Latin America as Regional Manager. With Village Capital, she managed the Boston Health accelerator, launched the first Mexico programs for FinTech and for Health ventures, managed global impact metrics, and lead the expansion to serve entrepreneurs in South America. Prior to Village Capital, Amanda was an IDEX Fellow in Social Enterprise with the Sankalp Forum in Mumbai, creating an investment pipeline and managing workshops for high impact startups. For the Fellowship, she developed an impact assessment tool for UTMT and completed coursework from Monterrey Institute. She earned her degree in Business and Psychology from Emory's Goizueta Business School. Andres Barreto

Seed Investor & Entrepreneur, Social Atom Ventures

Andres Barreto is a Colombian entrepreneur and the founder of Socialatom Group, Grooveshark, PulsoSocial and Onswipe. He is a founding fellow of the non-profit Coderise. He was named Business Week’s top 25 under 25, MIT Tech Review Top 10 Innovators under 35 and Inc Magazine top 30 under 30. Since his early college days Andres has been focused on economic development in Latin America through technology and entrepreneurship. While at college in 2006 he founded Grooveshark, a music streaming service with over 35 million listeners a month. Encountering a lack of information on Latin American technology and entrepreneurship, Andres launched PulsoSocial, the leading media outlet for technology and entrepreneurship in the region, and later on, Socialatom PR. Socialatom works with technology brands in the US looking to enter Latin America such as Netflix, Evernote, Rackspace, HotelTonight and Google, as well as tech startups that want to enter the US market or operate at a regional level. Andres then went on to co-found Coderise which is a non-profit that teaches kids in emerging countries aged 14-18 how to code. Since 2013 Andres has been investing in Latin American technology companies with a global focus, with the support of Socialatom Group. At the same time Socialatom Ventures was formed as a service agency of investment portfolios for entrepreneurs as well as advising governments on public policy related to tech entrepreneurship and helping run government or institution backed programs that support entrepreneurship all over Latin America. Based in New York, he constantly travels between the US and Latin America. Andres also loves travel, adventure sports, dancing salsa and ethnomusicology.

Angel Garcia

Claudio Barahona

Constancio is a recognized entrepreneur and venture investor for the Internet sector in both Latin America and the US markets. He started his career while still in college as co-founder of Patagon, the first on-line stock broker of Latin America. Head Quartered in Miami, FL and with operations in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and Chile, the company was acquired by Spanish bank, Santander in a cash deal that valued Patagon at $705 million. Patagon was subsequently merged with Santander-owned Open Bank in Spain. Concurrently with that transaction Constancio became venture investor and Chairman of Bumeran.com, the first job listings platform of the region co-founded by his brother Pablo and with operations in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. After a bidding war between Starmedia Capital, Monster.com and Terra Networks, the company was acquired by Terra and subsequently sold years later to Tiger Global Fund of NY. Constancio then became President of Vistelmar, a diversified company in the agriculture and real estate industries operating in Argentina. Weemba was the third venture where Constancio got involved, in this case as President. The company provides a social-oriented lead generation platform for the lending industry. Germán Martínez Arranz

Entre otros proyectos dentro de la CNBV, coadyuvó en la elaboración de la regulación secundaria aplicable a las redes de pagos con tarjetas, así como en las disposiciones para mitigar el robo de identidad en el sector bancario. Previamente, en la iniciativa privada, fue pieza clave en el lanzamiento de nuevos productos de crédito tanto en Banco Azteca como en Banco Santander. Gilberto es licenciado en Economía por el ITAM y cuenta con estudios de posgrado en Estadística en la misma institución y en la Universidad de Warwick, Reino Unido.

Gonzalo Eguiagaray

Gonzalo is Investment Officer at Arcano Asset Management heading the North America private equity investment team out of its New York office. Gonzalo Martín-Villa

With a particular passion for technology and innovation, Gonzalo serves as CEO of Wayra, Telefónica’s start-up accelerator, from its birth in 2011. In less than three years, he helped Wayra become one of the largest technology accelerators, opening operations in 12 countries across Latin America and Europe (Colombia, México, Spain, Venezuela, Perú, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, UK, Germany, Ireland and the Czech Republic). Today, Wayra has a portfolio of more than 300 innovative companies in 20 different digital industries. Prior to join Wayra, Gonzalo spent five years as Director of the Secretaría General Técnica (Head of the Chairman’s Office) of Telefónica Latinoamérica, leading projects and initiatives at a regional level. He joined Telefónica in 1997, when he started working in the legal department of Telefónica Internacional, the entity that managed Telefónica´s international operations. In 1999 he was appointed as Legal Manager of Telefónica Móviles, the holding company that managed all the mobile operations worldwide, and in 2002 became Legal Director of Telefónica Móviles México, where he worked for almost three years before returning to Spain. Gonzalo has a degree in Law by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an LLM by Georgetown University and also holds an MBA from IESE Business School – University of Navarra. He currently divides his time between Madrid, Latin America and the rest of Europe. Gonzalo is also a passionate marathon runner.

Jaime Bolivar

He brings more than 15 years of experience in M2M, telematics and smart mobility. He notably created the first turnkey PAYD (Pay As You Drive) insurance solution in Spain and Portugal. Before NEXT SEGUROS, he founded Detector and made it the leading Telematic Service Provider (TSP) in Spain and Portugal. As in the case of NEXT SEGUROS, he started the company from a blank sheet of paper. Javier led the company's business model transformation from a telematics distribution model to an international firm specialised in M2M business solutions and smart mobility. Before Detector, Javier also gained experience with Carrefour as internal auditor and consultancy. In that capacity, Joe founded VisaLabs, the company’s disruptive technology innovation group, responsible for scanning the external landscape for new technology trends and opportunities, and evaluating emerging technology for applicability to Visa’s business. Prior to joining Visa, Joe spent eight years with ANZ Banking Group in Australia as a senior technology executive. His most recent position was CIO (Head of Technology) ANZ Mortgages, responsible for all aspects of technology deployed across ANZ’s mortgages business. Prior to Mortgages, Joe was CIO of ANZ’s Asia/Pacific division. Joe holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and is an honors graduate in Applied Mathematics & Computing. MusicGremlin was a pioneer in the delivery of digital media content direct to wireless devices. Its WiFi MP3 player was named one of Time Magazine’s “All Time Top 100 Gadgets.” The company filed numerous patents and was recognized with several innovation awards. Prior to launching MusicGremlin, Mr. Axelrod was Co-Founder and President of Music123, a first-mover musical instrument e-commerce company that became one of the largest musical instrument retailers in the United States. Founded in 1999, Music123 grew from startup to profitable market leader in less than four years. It is now a brand of Guitar Center. Mr. Axelrod started his career as a McKinsey & Company consultant. Jonathan Hayes

Jonathan is the creator and co-founder of Dinube - a realtime payment network in the cloud that started up in the MIT Media Lab. Dinube was the winner of several awards at MIT and later set up operations in Europe. Prior to that, Jonathan led the innovation strategy at TechIDEAS, an award -winning software innovation firm based in Barcelona, Spain. Jonathan was one of the founding members of the team that launched Sironta, the first fully inter-operable collaboration software suite available for Mac OS, Linux and PC. Innovation is a way of life for Jonathan. He was one of the first to fly a hot-air balloon over volcanoes in Guatemala. He envisioned and led the development of a high-performance motor sports cluster in Barcelona and was first to launch a bid for an all-Spanish Formula One™ team, also developing the first proposal for Banco Santander's entry to Formula One™. After working in senior management roles across EMEA regions and Central, South and North America, Jonathan returned to Spain to launch “Nuevos Valores”, the premier publication on Corporate Social Responsibility in Spain, of which he was founding editor. Jorge is cofounder of DESTACAME, a tool that enables people take control of their financial information and improve their access to financial products. Jorge has been an entrepreneur during all his life: when he was 23, after graduating from Business & Economics, he launched two companies linked to the travell business: NanduAir, an airline company in Patagonia and Zerohotel, a boutique hotel in Valparaíso. After four years heading these projects, he decided to follow his passion for technology and over two years y was Managing Director of Red Fácil, a technological company, focused on offering services to telecommunication companies. Juan Carlos Arroyo

Juan Carlos Arroyo started his career in Grupo Financiero Probursa, the company dealing in an operational capacity in leasing products, factoring and payment systems. He was responsible for ATMs and Debit Cards operations for BBVA Probursa. After the BBVA - Bancomer merger he was part of the team responsible for the design of bancomer.com, one of the first mini-sites for clients by segment and with new online services. Over the last decade, Arroyo has had various roles as a director in the areas of commercial development, commercial partnerships, innovation and development, strategy and planning and the transformation of retail banking. He led the design of the web transformation project for the offices of BBVA Bancomer and was the project management officer for the pilot. Roberta formerly held a position as Policy Officer at the European Commission - DG Research and, prior to that, at Banca Intesa as a Relationship Manager for US Corporates. Roberta works and lives in London. She grew up in Singapore, lived and worked in Milan and Brussels and is fluent in English, French and Italian.

Rodrigo is Mexican, with nearly 15 years in the Retail & Commercial banking industry within Santander Group. Currently Head of the Bank of the Future reporting into the Chief Innovation Officer for Santander Group based in Madrid. Responsible for developing new lines of business in digital banking as well as for delivering the foundations for the Group´s digital strategy. Prior to that, he was heading the Multichannel Unit for Santander Spain where he was leading the transformation of the distribution model from a branch centric to a multichannel business model. Rodrigo has also chaired the Commercial Banking Corporate School, a unit focused on sharing best practices in retail banking among the geographies that compose Santander Group, thus being able to better understand the different business models, cultures and professionals in each unit. Stefan Mathesius

Stefan is head of Financial Instruments at the Andalusian Innovation and Development Agency which forms part of the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment. Yolanda Pérez

Yolanda Pérez is a Director at BStartup, the recently created Director of Entrepreneurship of Banco Sabadell. She has more than 15 years’ experience in public and private initiatives in support of the creation of businesses. Much of this was in diverse roles at Barcelona Activa, the local development agency of the Barcelona City Council, where she ran programs for innovative businesses, incubators, the Parque Tecnológico Barcelona Nord, finance, internationalization and growth programs.
